As the number of microprocessors in
automotive and industrial applications continues to expand, so does the
need for rugged step-down regulators
that can operate over a wide input
voltage range and withstand high
voltage transients and output shorts.
Microprocessor-based applications
also require supervisory functions,
such as power-on reset (POR) and
watchdog timing, to ensure high system reliability. The regulator must
have high efficiency at light loads
to increase battery life. The LT3689
delivers all of these features in tiny
16-pin 3mm Г— 3mm QFN and 16-pin
